EMPLOYMENT
Khorrami, Pollard & Abir, LLP, is a premier employment litigation practice. Over the years we have handled numerous employment cases on behalf of many individuals.
Employment law covers all rights and obligations within the employer-employee relationship -- whether current employees or former employees. Because of the complexity of employment relationships and the wide variety of situations that can arise, employment law involves legal issues as diverse as discrimination, wrongful termination, wages and taxation, and workplace safety.
Employee Rights in the Workplace
All employees have basic rights in the workplace -- including the right to privacy, fair compensation, and freedom from discrimination.
At Khorrami Pollard & Abir, LLP, we understand the difficulties employees face when dealing with unfair employers and working in unlawful conditions.
Our lawyers are experienced in handling cases related to the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and have undergone extensive training on employment laws.
One of the major issues in employee employer relationships is a violation of wage and hour compensation. The law requires all employers to compensate their employees for their work. Most employers are mandated by law to recompense their staff for work in excess of 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week. Employees are also entitled to rest breaks and meal breaks throughout the workday, or, if denied meal and rest breaks, are entitled to be compensated for them. By law, employees who have been wrongly denied these rights by their employers are entitled to recover their unpaid wages and any costs accrued in legal fees.
"You essentially have people living paycheck to paycheck, and it means a lot when you have them work through their lunch period and they don't get paid for it"
- Shawn Khorrami Daily Journal, February 23, 2007
